Aqm Generalized Nyquist Stability in Multiple Bottleneck Networks ?

چکیده
The influence of multiple bottlenecks on the stability of Active Queue Management (AQM) controllers, usually configured on a single bottleneck basis is discussed. We consider a network scenario where RED is configured at each router according to previously developed control theoretic techniques. These configuration rules assure stability in a single bottleneck scenario. We show that instability may arise when two links become congested. We justify this result through a multiple bottleneck model using the Generalized Nyquist stability criterion Copyright c ©2005 IFAC.

An adaptive prediction based approach for congestion estimation in active queue management (APACE)
Active Queue Management (AQM) policies are mechanisms for congestion avoidance, which pro-actively drop packets in order to provide an early congestion notification to the sources. In this paper we propose a new Adaptive Prediction based Approach for Congestion Estimation in Active Queue Management (APACE) that predicts the instantaneous queue length at a future time using adaptive filtering te...
متن کاملNonlinear Control of Active Queue Management for Multiple Bottleneck Network
Active Queue Management (AQM) based on nonlinear difference equations has been proposed to solve the end-to-end TCP network congestion problem recently. The proposed AQM scheme can guarantee the stability of the multiple bottleneck network by nonlinear control for dropping probability of the routers. Nonlinear control often relies on some heuristics and network traffic controllers that appear t...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of TCP/AQM with generalized AIMD under intermediate buffer sizes
For TCP/AQM systems, the issue of buffer sizing has recently received much attention. The classical rule-of-thumb suggests O(N) buffer size to ensure full link utilization when N TCP flows share a bottleneck link of capacity O(N), while recent empirical study shows the buffer of size O( √ N) is enough to yield high utilization (say, 95%) for large N . However, these results are all limited to t...
متن کاملHopf Bifurcation and Oscillations in Homogeneous Communication Networks
In this paper, we investigate stability and bifurcation arising in a communication network model with a large number of homogeneous (symmetric) users and a single bottleneck AQM queue. We carry out bifurcation analysis to study the effect of user delay and strength of feedback. It is shown that for any given delay, there exists a critical amount of feedback (due to AQM) at which the equilibrium...
متن کاملDesign of H Congestion Controller for TCP Networks Based on LMI Formulation
In this paper, a state feedback H¥ controller is proposed in order to design an active queue management (AQM) system based on congestion control algorithm for networks supporting TCP protocols. In this approach, the available link bandwidth is modeled as a time-variant disturbance. The purpose of this paper is to design a controller which is capable of achieving the queue size and can guarantee...
